Parents of 2-y-o found in suitcase charged
Alphonso and Stephanie Warren, the parents of the two-year-old boy whose partially decomposing body was found at their home in a suitcase were yesterday charged for concealment of death and are scheduled to appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
The accused were taken into custody on January 13 by police from the Hunts Bay Police Station after angry residents forced their way into the couple’s home on Chisholm Avenue in Kingston and made the gruesome discovery.
The police said they were summoned to the scene on the day in question about 4:00 pm by residents who discovered the remains of Jeshurun Warren, who they claimed they had not seen for some time. The child’s father, who was reportedly mobbed by the residents, was taken into custody along with his Canadian wife.
Following the incident there were reports that the child’s internal organs had been removed by the parents to prevent the body from giving off a foul smell and that the child had died from ackee poisoning. However, a post-mortem later revealed that the child died from natural causes.
Police also reported that the body of the boy had been in the suitcase for approximately two months.
