Duanvale return to top of Major League
DUNCANS, Trelawny — The back and forth for the leadership of the Trelawny Football Association’s National Rums of Jamaica Major League continued on Saturday when Duanvale returned to the top, 24 hours after they were replaced by Holland United.
Velroy McLaughlin scored twice in the first half to guide Duanvale to a 3-1 win over Flames at Sea-Road field in Duncans and to 19 points from seven games, one more than Holland with Granville in third place on 16 points.
McLaughlin scored in the second and 22nd minutes, Orlando Grey made it 3-0 in the 76th minute as both players improved to four goals of the season before Desron Whyne pulled one back for the home team in the 88th minute.
Prospect Links won their third straight game 1-0 over Spicy Hill at Georgia to climb to fourth place on 13 points.
Renaldo Scott scored the only goal of the game in the 15th minute as Spicy Hill remained as the only club yet to score a goal.
In the other game, Jackson Town moved two places into sixth place on 10 points after edging Friendship 2-1 at Friendship.
Romaine Roberts scored both goals for Jackson Town in the 52nd and 54th minutes before Ricardo Rowe scored for the home team in the 62nd minute to slash the deficit.
On Sunday, Clarks Town scored their second win of the season, blanking Salt Marsh 2-0 at Cedric Titus High School to improve to eight points and in eighth position.
