Leaders clash in Western Super League
GRANVILLE, St James — Former champions Wadadah and Granville FC, who are tied atop the standings in Zone 1 of the JFF/Captain’s Bakery/Western Confed Super League, will clash in today’s feature return round game at Sam Sharpe Teachers’ College.
The St James clubs who drew 1-1 in the first round are both on 12 points, separated by goal difference, with Wadadah slightly ahead, and are both coming off 0-0 draws last week.
Wadadah, who were off to a slow start, will be protecting a five-game unbeaten run, while Granville have failed to win in their last two outings.
Savannah, Group two’s leaders, are coming off a loss last week, but will take a four points lead into their game against Bamboo, whom they beat, 3-0, in the first round.
Bamboo and Harmony are tied for second on 11 points and the latter will hope to repeat their first round win when they travel to Bickersteth to face Tomorrow’s People, who are two points adrift.
Tomorrow’s People will be bolstered by the home field advantage as well as their midweek win over Fogo United as they seek to move up in the standings.
Frome FC, who have slipped from the top two in Zone 1, will seek to get back in the reckoning when they travel to Lucea to face Jericho Rangers, whom they beat, 2-1, in the first round.
In the other game to be played today, Fogo United will take on last-placed Mt Pelier at Flankers.
Today’s schedule:
