Practise what you preach, Portia
Dear Editor,
When the prime minister was Opposition leader she was stridently vocal against untruths or errors made by political leaders. She constantly spoke about trust and the need for political leaders to be accurate in what they said.
The prime minister at her party meeting on January 22, boldly and unambiguously announced the launch of JEEP. The JLP criticised her for repackaging their programme and calling it JEEP. It was subsequently confirmed that this was indeed a JLP programme previously signed-off on and her transport and works minister later confirmed that JEEP was not being launched.
Instead of practising what she has preached for the last four years, Simpson Miller did not see it fit to apologise for – depending on your view – her own falsehood or her own error. Instead, in response to those who criticised, she said, ” I am not going to waste any time to deal with trivial matters.” What arrogance and contempt!
It seems clear that Simpson Miller believes that 42 – 21 allows her to do and say just as she pleases.
