Low voter turnout irks Lloyd B Smith
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Lloyd B Smith has expressed disappointment at the low voter turn out in today’s Local Government polls.
He says both the ruling People’s National Party and the Opposition Jamaica Labour Party need to ascertain the reasons why the electorate is staying away from the polls.
“Both parties need to go back to the drawing board to find out why the people are not interested in the process,” said Smith, who is also the Member of Parliament for Central St James.
The Electoral Office of Jamaica had reported that at 3:00 pm today voter turn out was 24.9 per cent.
