The Abyssinians for Redbones
THE Abyssinians, roots-reggae harmony group, is the main attraction for Friday’s live music at the Redbones Blues Café in New Kingston.
Formed in 1968 by Bernard Collins, Donald Manning and Linford Manning, the group shot to prominence the year after with their hit song Satta Massagana. The song, a Rastafarian hymn, was recorded on Sir Coxson Dodd’s Studio One label.
The group enjoyed moderate success with hits including Declaration of Rights, Y Mas Gan and Let My Days Be Long.
