Roberto Cavalli blasts US style
Roberto Cavalli approves of neither American fashion nor its arbiter, Queen Anna Wintour. In a video interview aired on D, the weekly style magazine from Italian newspaper La Repubblica, the flamboyant Italian designer unleashed a tirade of abuse against the US industry.
“Just look at American fashion,” he said, “which is almost fashion. It’s terrible and you almost can’t look at it.” But there was more to come: “It has been driven by a great journalist, Anna Wintour, who wants all women to be like her and to dress the way she does.”
Cavalli was on a roll: “I see young people coming out of design schools and they are too minimalist. Probably because their professors are minimalist, because they in turn have professors who follow styles of designs that are too industrial and commercial.” He did have some positive advice for aspiring designers though. “I can only say, try to be different and try to create artistic styles. Then the clothes can be transformed, changed and modified to take into account wearability and the possibility of actually being worn.”

Who’s that girl!
She is known for being a blonde bombshell. But supermodel Heidi Klum has tweeted one of her earliest modelling snaps and she looks completely different from her appearance now.In the picture, taken in 1992 when Heidi was just 19 years old, the German model is seen in a prom dress posing on a bed with dolls and stuffed animals surrounding her. Heidi posted the snap and told fans: “Wow! Check out this picture from 1992. One of my very first photo shoots. This is my original hair colour!”
Heidi won a national contest out of 25,000 contestants called Model 92 which kick-started her modelling career. She received a contract with Thomas Zeumer, CEP of Metropolitan Models New York, but it wasn’t until she landed a Victoria’s Secret job that her profile soared. The mother-of-four has said she wouldn’t have any plastic surgery, and told Allure magazine: “I’m proud to be able to say, in this day and age, I haven’t done anything. Everyone has a view of what’s not pretty, and [plastic surgery] just doesn’t look pretty to me. Especially when I see it on really young girls.”

Green goddess
She has won considerable acclaim for her fashion choices on American Idol over the past two seasons. And Jennifer Lopez managed to rack up the glamour once again in a pair of wide- legged emerald green trousers and floaty white blouse. The 42-year-old judge looked a class act in the ensemble, which she teamed with oversized hoop earrings and a chunky bracelet.
A high ponytail completed the look as Jennifer was primped and preened by her team of stylists and assistants on the set. The new outfit is just the latest in several striking ensembles J-Lo has sported in recent weeks. J-Lo combines her appearances on the hit TV talent show with a recent resurgence in her music career. She recently released the sultry video for new song Dance Again in which she appears with her toy boy beau Casper Smart.
