Simoes’ message of courage
Dear Editor,
I would like to remind readers of the message of courage Rene Simoes left with us 14 years ago when he used the information (5-3-2) that enabled our Reggae Boyz to journey to France to World Cup Football 1998, where they gave Japan (1-nil).
The message was: “Suffer, but never give up.” He also went on to say:
“Never again feel or act as a dead person before death comes.” Simoes’ words were spoken in the context of sports, but we should note that they are not confined only to sports.
