Bolt jumps tracks! Sprint phenom spins records on night out of fun
LONDON, England (AP) — Usain Bolt went from breaking a record to spinning records.
Bolt hotfooted it from the Olympic Stadium on Saturday night to a party nearby in east London and turned DJ to entertain the packed house.
The sprinter showed he can handle different types of tracks than the ones he’s used to as he played songs into the early hours of yesterday morning at the venue that’s been Jamaica’s Olympic party base.
“I’m feeling great,” Bolt said. “I am happy and I did what I did and I came here to be legend. I am now so I am very happy with myself.”
The sprinter went to the party with members of the Jamaican track team after completing the defence of all three of the Olympic titles won in Beijing by anchoring the 4×100-metre relay team to a world record.
Earlier in the week, Bolt won gold in the 100 and 200 metres for a second successive Olympics.
“It is a wonderful feat,” he said between posing for pictures and feasting on Jamaican food with his teammates. “We always come out here and give it our best.
“At the last Olympics we did great and at this Olympics we did great, so for me it was an honour to share it with these guys and to do wonderful things and extraordinary things — so for me, I am very happy.”
So happy, that the night didn’t end there.
After attending his sponsor’s party in Brick Lane, Bolt dashed to the glitzier nightclub Movida in London’s West End.
Movida spokeswoman Martina Pokorna said the group, which included teammate Yohan Blake and British swimmer Rebecca Adlington, was given a 15-litre bottle of Ace of Spades champagne — which the club normally charges £80,000 ($125,000) for.
“They left at 6 o’clock this morning (yesterday),” Pokorna said.
