For Asafa
Dear Editor,
I write in honour of sportsman, Asafa Powell
Asafa! Asafa! Asafa! Asafa!
You paved the road
You levelled the tracks
You did it for the others
Now there’s no turning back.
Asafa! Asafa! Asafa!
You opened the door to the 100 dash!
And one by one they were all smashed!
But now that elusive piece of gold
Seems so hard for you to behold.
Asafa! Asafa!
You remained my Prince Charming
My champion
My star
Without you we could not have gone this far.
Asafa!
Be strong
Be brave
With God by your side
The storms you will ride
With added humility and posture
Stand and face your monster
And one day not far from now
You will stand tall and take a bow.
