Icon and legend fit Bolt
Dear Editor,
This is in response to Mr Ken Spencer’s letter of August 16, regarding Usain Bolt being referred to as a legend or an icon. Mr Spencer ignored other definitions of the words legend and icon.
As defined by the New Pocket Oxford Dictionary, “legend” also means “an extremely famous person” and “icon” as defined by this same source as “a person or thing seen as a symbol of something”.
Based on these alternative meanings, Mr Spencer, Usain Bolt could be described as either.
