Jamaica’s male and female teams suffered their second consecutive loss at the Pan American Junior Hockey Championships in Guadalajara, Mexico yesterday.

At the 7th Women’s Junior Pan Am Championship, Chile demolished Jamaica 10-0, after leading 4-0 at half time. Maria MacKenna Manuela Urroz and Catallna Salas each scored a brace for the Chileans, who have won both their matches to move up to six points and lead Pool B on goal difference with 19, two ahead of defending champions United States of America, who defeated both Venezuela and Paraguay over the previous two days.

Skipper Fernando Flores, Josefa Salas, Francisca Tala, and Francisca Vidaurre also scored for the South Americans.

The Dr Michelle Holt-coached Jamaican ladies will next take on Paraguay tomorrow (Friday), with both teams seeking their first win.

Canada and Uruguay lead Pool A with four points, after one win and one draw. Both teams drew 2-2 against each other with Canada whipping Brazil 7-0 and Uruguay beating Mexico 3-0.

At the 10th Men’s Junior Pan Am Championship, reigning champions Argentina repelled the Aubyn Ferguson-guided Jamaica Under-21 men 8-0 (3-0 at half time), with captain Gonzalo Peillat hitting a hat-trick.

Diego Paz, Lautaro Diaz, Joaquin Menini, Federico Fernandez Onega and Federico Ruiz also hit the woodwork for the Argentines who lead Pool A of the men’s competition with six points and have already scored 32 goals.

Jamaica will next play on Saturday when they take on Brazil at 4:00 pm.

The top two countries from the men’s and the top three in the women’s Junior Pan Am Championships will qualify for FIH Junior World Cup next year in India where Germany and The Netherlands are the respective male and female reigning champions.
