Toyota JA goes to MoBay
TOYOTA Jamaica (TJAM) recently expanded its operations to the island’s tourist capital in Montego Bay, St James. And so far, the company says things are very encouraging.
“The reception has been great in MoBay. It’s like our customers were there waiting on us to come,” said Howard Foster, TJAM’s sales and marketing manager.
Foster, who is based at the company’s head office on Spanish Town Road in St Andrew, said the new branch was opened in Ironshore, St James, on September 3.
“The official opening will take place on Friday, September 21,” he said.
TJAM is the sole authorised distributor for Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan and Daihatsu Motor Corporation.
“Our customers in western Jamaica will not need to make the long trek to Kingston for sales, service and parts. It is now more convenient for them,” Foster told Auto.
He said despite MoBay’s operations being smaller than those in the Corporate Area, prospective customers and customers should expect the high-quality service which has made the company number one in new-car vehicle sales.
“There are about four to five bays in MoBay compared to about 30 to 40 at the head office. However, all our staffers are well trained and the brand is outfitted with the latest first-world equipment,” he said.
According to the sales and marketing manager, the Montego Bay arm of Toyota Jamaica branch has created employment for that community.
“Of the 15 persons employed to that branch, 14 are from the Montego Bay area. This speaks to our commitment in working with the community,” he said.
Foster said Toyota Jamaica is poised for massive growth in St James and with that will come expansion.
“We’ll grow to suit our customers’ needs. We’re here to make them happy,” he said.
