Olympic six-time gold medallist Usain Bolt is the recipient of yet another award as a result of his tremendous sporting accomplishments to date. Bolt was deemed winner of the Hickok Belt Award for August 2012 after he was selected by members of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA).

This award is given to “the best of the best” in any professional sport for the month, thus it was fitting after Bolt’s performance in the recently concluded London 20012 Olympic Games where he became the first man to win two consecutive gold medals in the 100 and 200 metres.

As it is a monthly award, Bolt became the eighth of 12 finalists vying for the annual award, which will be presented in 2013. Previous recipients of this award for the year include Lebron James and Serena Williams.

Royal Family sues French magazine

French magazine, the Closer has found itself in a feud with the British Royal family after publishing topless photographs of Kate Middleton, wife of Prince William. The family is suing the magazine for breach of privacy after paparazzi captured and published pictures of the couple on holiday in Provence early September.

Though it is not seen as a criminal offence to photograph and publish somebody in France if the photographer is not trespassing, it is strictly stated that people reserve the right lead a private life.

According to FRANCE 24-RFI’s in-house legal expert, the royal family is quite likely to win the case. However, the magazine has already accumulated far more than it would lose in the case thus making a profit either way.

Anti-domestic campaigners against Chris Brown

It is alleged that R&B superstar Chris Brown is once again the target of anti-domestic violence campaigners. This came as a result of the singer’s new tattoo of an image that bore a striking resemblance to that of a beaten-up version of ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

It was, however, claimed by sources close to Brown that the tattoo is a random woman and any similarities to Rihanna are pure coincidence. Whether or not it was indeed an image of Rihanna, campaigners sought to send a warning to the singer by pasting stickers on his new CDs in stores in London.

In addition to the stickers, copies of Brown’s latest album, Fortune have reportedly been defaced by labels which read “Warning. Do not buy this album! This man beats women”.
