Family member treasures history of the Ward Theatre
Dear Editor,
I was interested to read on your website the article, “Ward Theatre”, by Di-Andra Brown in the TeenAge Observer of August 28.
As the Ward Theatre approaches its centenary since it was gifted to the people of Jamaica by my great-great-grandfather, I am always searching the web, hoping one day to hear the good news that a kind investor has agreed to fund the refurbishment the poor old building desperately needs!
Unfortunately, the family wealth that was once in so much abundance has sadly diminished over the years. Had it not, and if I could afford to, I’d sincerely love to help bring the theatre back to its former glory. The wealth may be no more, but I hope the generosity of spirit is still within the family!
As the eldest son of the eldest son – the heir if you will – I am the proud owner of the CMG awarded to my great-great grandfather all those years ago, and it is something I treasure.
