Barbra Streisand’s ‘teenage heartbreak’

People Post

A controversial biography about Barbra Streisand promises to offer salacious details about the singer’s early love life. The 70-year-old star’s first love affair is said to have ended in heartbreak when she discovered her boyfriend, actor Barré Dennen, was bisexual, according to biographer William J Mann.

The author, in his new book Hello Gorgeous: Becoming Barbra Streisand, recounts how Streisand was inevitably shattered after walking in with her boyfriend having sex with a man.

In an excerpt from the forthcoming book published by the New York Daily News, Mann writes: “She walked into the apartment to find Barré having sex with a man, a light-skinned black man she didn’t recognise. In that moment, the shocking truth of their nine months together suddenly came crashing down on her, a truth she had known, of course, but had done her best to block out of her mind.”

The weighty tome also claims Streisand shared with friends plans for the couple to marry. In it, Mann also alludes to socio-economic differences between the pair — and Streisand’s attraction toDennen’s apparent wealth.

“He was 22 years old. Barbra had just turned 18. Their first time out together, sharing a baked potato with sour cream and chives at a midtown diner, she drilled him like an investigative journalist. What was it like to have a live-in maid? What did his pool look like? What kinds of cars did his parents drive? What kinds of furs did his mother own? Barré found her questions captivating. There’d been no one like her in California.”

Isn’t that a bit glamorous?

As a worldwide fashion icon, she has to make sure she keeps up appearances to keep interest on her clothing and accessories lines.

But Victoria Beckham seemed to have taken her style duties a little too far last Saturday as she went to watch her children play a game of soccer. The mother of boys Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and little girl Harper stepped out in Los Angeles to see her sons practise their football skills. Beckham certainly stuck out in the black maxi dress which featured an elastic waist.

Wearing high wedges, the 38-year-old looked far more glamorous than the people sitting around her, who had also come to watch children they know. As well as accessorising with a gold watch, bangles and a ring, Beckham’s silky tresses looked freshly blown out for the daytime casual occasion.

A fairytale wedding

Holly Valance married billionaire Nick Candy last Saturday in a large and lavish wedding which took place in Beverly Hills.

And dating one of the most eligible men around means the Neighbours star had the fairytale wedding she no doubt had been dreaming of since she was a little girl. The bride, 29, wore an extravagant white gown by J’Aton Couture which boasted a full, meringue-style skirt resembling feathers and a bodice-like top.

Meanwhile, the wealthy property developer was looking incredibly suave in a tuxedo by Dolce and Gabbana. Three hundred members of their friends and family — including Simon Cowell — watched the couple exchange vows outdoors in the glorious California wedding.
