DRAX HALL, St Ann — Former champions Harbour View blanked Highgate United, 3-0, at Drax Hall on Sunday in their Red Stripe Premier League game, leaving the latter still without a win this season.

Jerimie Lynch (20th), John Ross Edwards 87th and Jermaine Hue (93rd) were on target for the winners.

Playing in a steady drizzle, Harbour View went on the attack through Jermaine Hue, Jermine Lynch and Joel Senior, while Highgate countered through Carlos Barrett, Dennis Neish, Severo Murphy, and Jerome Wedderburn.

Harbour View took the lead when substitute Lamar Lynch’s cross found Jerimie Lynch,

who fired past goalkeeper Ralston Robinson.

Highgate should have pulled one back when Dennis Neish failed to head into an empty goal with Michaud Barrett beaten from a Shamir Stewart cross. They also earned three successive corners, but Anthowe Dawkins headed high from close range.

Before the half ended, referee Courtney Campbell issued three yellow cards to Highgate’s Severo Murphy and Harbour View’s Eric Vernan and Jerimie Lynch for a shoving incident.

Highgate came out in attack mode in the second period through Neish, substitute Reon Nelson and Wedderbourn, but were thwarted by an alert Michaud Barrett, who pulled off a number of saves.

Harbour View took the sting out of their opponents when Hue’s pass from the left flank found Jon-Ross Edwards, whose back-heel landed in the roof of the net, with Ralston left stranded.

Hue notched his fourth goal of the season in time added when he picked up a ball down the left flank and fired past the advancing Robinson.

Vin Blaine was pleased with

the victory.

“It was a good game for us as we got some openings and made good use of them. We absorbed the pressure as they came at us and we… managed the game well,” he said.

Highgate’s Calvin Lewis

was frustrated with his team’s poor finishing.

“We need players; we need quality players. A team cannot be creating so many chances and not making use of them in front of goal.

“We played some quality football… and created a number of chances. We’ve done a lot of work in front of the goal but are just not getting the results. I have to put the work somewhere else,” he said.
