ON October 23, the Ferncourt High School finally got a chance to show their talent in the TEENage Observer Expression Tours. Even with the threat of Hurricane Sandy, all the students came to show-off their talent.

The first performance of the day was a song done by Tanya Allen, which she delivered as best as she knew how, that got the crowd moving to the lyrics.

She then made for Cameil Wonder, who came on stage as the first dancer, her performance had to be cut short because her dance moves were a bit raunchy.

Following that was Oshin Byles doing a song that caught the crowds attention.

Abi-Gay Boyd then took the stage and sang her heart out, with a show-stopping performance. The cheers of the audience almost took the roof off the auditorium.

Even after she finished the song to cheers the support from the audience still continued. Following that lovely performance, it was time for the dancers to grace the stage with their dance moves.

Kerryann Barnette and Company gave an entertaining dance piece, moving to the beats of different genres of music.

The piece was well choreographed and it had the crowd feeling every move. They had the judges at the edge of their seats, these girls were just having fun and looking graceful at it.

First-former Thawana Palmer was next and she tried to wow the audience with a dub poem, which was well received by fellow schoolmates. Right after that performance was Nicole Palmer with another dub poem by one of Jamaica’s greatest dub poets, Louis ‘Miss Lou’ Bennett-Coverley that caught the audience attention.

Immediately after that was Misheka Byles and Company with a dub poem.

Following those cultural performances, the Reloaded Dancers came and displayed their amazing steps and body movements that caught the eyes of everyone.

Another set of dancers hit the stage, Jerdean and Company. Their performance had to be cut short, as their dance moves too weren’t TEEN-friendly.

Bless Plantiliz then graced the stage and toned down the energy with a song. She reminded everyone about the famous Jamaican saying ‘little but tallawah’.

Bless then made way for Titania Winter with a song that didn’t go as planned. Syrena and Javena were next on stage with a soulful song that had the audience rocking.

After the thrilling performances, it was time to cool down with the Cool Fruit Drink-off competition. Sheldon Walters had a winner’s mindset as he finished his two boxes of Cool Fruit box drinks first.

During the breaks after performances questions were asked and the first to come up on stage and correctly answer the question would receive a gift courtesy of the sponsors. The winners were named: Winston Seymour, Krissan Thomas and Trae Blagrove.

The winner of the TEENage Observer Expression Tour will represent Ferncourt High at the Finals in July. In third place was Reloaded Dancers, second place went to Kerryann Barnett and Company and first place went to Abi-Gaye Boyd.
