Royal Bud for Caymanas Park Sprint
Royal Bud advertised his well-being in a fast run Restricted Allowance II race among native-bred and imported three-year-olds on October 13 and could blossom in this easier but competitive $715,000 Caymanas Park Three-year-old Sprint feature at Caymanas Park today.
Set among Restricted Allowance II native-bred three-year-olds (NW2) going 1,200 metres, the Caymanas Park Sprint has attracted a dynamic field of 13 that is set to go to post at approximately 4:30 pm. First post at 12:45 pm.
Owned by Winner’s Syndicate and trained by Raymond Townsend, the gelded three-year-old son of Royal Minister out of Rose Bud (Sir Lal Bahadur) bred by Gladstone Bell & Terrance Strachan showed promise as a two-year-old, but has just begun to blossom late as a three-year-old.
Nonetheless, while not the most endearing at exercise he now looks ready to show his early promise and will shoot from barrier #3. His most decent run as a three-year-old came over 1,300 metres on last.
It was a run that set the stage for a telling effort taking into account that the distance is reduced. Also of some note, the in form four-time champion jockey Omar Walker, who was astride on last will again ride and will come in at 55.0kg.
Though projecting that he may have a little more class than the present field of runners, Royal Bud will have to run to prove that he is in fact a cut above the rest, as only Touring With Rhea will be saddled with more weight at 56.0kg.
By composition he is in fact competing in an easier spot than on last, but he will not only have the double-pronged attack from the Anthony Nunes pair of Mentalist, ridden by Shane Ellis, and champion jockey Dick Cardenas astride Rocketeer, to withstand, but the high-riding Touring With Rhea the mount of Dane Nelson and the claiming apprentice Kuri Powell navigating Di Cobre, as well.
The aforementioned along with probably Slam Eagle Rayan, Wilson up, and Sovereign Over All with claiming apprentice Sadiki Blake in the irons, have all been well drilled for committed efforts that can make the event evenly contested throughout.
