MONTEGO BAY, St James — Newcomers Cornwall Courts Chargers snapped their seven-game losing run on Tuesday evening at the Montego Bay Cricket Club with a 71-60 win over Muschett Cardinals, the only winless team left in the Hi-Lyte Insport Western Basketball Men’s Championships.

With two winless teams meeting, it was certain that one would shed the loser’s tag while the other would remain winless.

The win took Chargers to nine points from eight games, while Cardinals are stuck at the bottom on five points.

It was close going through the first two quarters with the teams deadlocked at 16 and 28 before Chargers took command with a big third quarter, winning 20-10 for a 48-38 lead going into the last quarter.

The consistent Wayne Morris scored a game-high 24 points and had 12 rebounds; Claude Johnson scored 16 points, while Rayon Grey also scored 12 points.

Trevor Mowatt was the top scorer for Muschett, Shaquille Rose scored 11 points and Renardo Fagan had 10 points.

The league continues this evening with Coral Gardens Raptors taking on Montego Bay Boys Club Warriors at the Montego Bay Cricket Club.
