The Hussey dynasty, led by granddaughter Christelle Harris, launched Hampden Estate Gold Rum in fine style at the poolside of the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel last Thursday evening. Invitations called for guests to don ‘black or gold luxe’ attire and several obliged in elegant, fashion-forward designs. Sipping cocktail libations that boasted such names as Ultimate Trelawny Rum Punch, Jamaica Gold and Mulled Apple Rumble, guests also enjoyed an impressive buffet spread that included sweet treats like — tiramisu, mousse shots, rum and raisin cheesecake, chocolate dipped cherries — which were infused with Hampden Gold Rum.

Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller put in an appearance to endorse the newly launched beverage and was warmly met by family patriarch Ruth Hussey on her arrival. Working with the theme, ‘dripping in gold’, the venue was styled by decorator Jonathan Banks of Bank On It, with obvious golden flourishes to reflect a modern contemporary look.
