Clarification
In the story in Wednesday’s Business Observer under the headline, ‘Hardware & Lumber eyes new products in profitable agri division’, H&L CEO Andrea Coy was quoted as saying, “A lot of the focus on H&L is (centred on), if construction is down, H&L must be down.” What Coy meant by the statement is that there is a misperception that H&L is overly exposed to the struggling construction industry, while she noted that the company’s diverse retail network allows it to mitigate the effects of the decline in the building industry in other areas, such as agriculture.
