NEXT year’s Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club (JMMC) Annual Awards function will include all major disciplines.

The announcement was made by Peter Clarke, JMMC chairman, at the club’s annual presentation ceremony at the Knutsford Court Hotel in New Kingston, St Andrew, last Saturday.

“This is the last time we will use this format,” Clarke told Auto.

“It makes sense, as the JMMC is the local governing body, so instead of just the Rallysport champion, we will be handing out the awards for the other champions, karting and circuit racing,” he continued.

Another revamp announced is that there will no longer be a single Rallysport championship trophy, but individual awards for the dexterity, sprints and rallies.

The evening, however, belonged to Matthew Gore and his season rivals Jordan Powell and Daryl King.

All three found themselves called to the podium throughout the function to receive awards. In addition to the Rallysport trophy, Gore also took home the JMMC 2012 National Stages Rally Championship and several other awards within that grouping.

“I had to up my game to deal with Jordan and Daryl this year,” said Gore in his acceptance speech. “I will be supporting all JMMC events for 2013.”

Powell, who came second in the Rallysport title race, took consolation in being the 2012 National Sprint Champion, and champion in his class for that sport. He also managed third in the dexterity championship behind Christopher McFarlane and 2012 title holder Maurice Whittingham.

King, second in the Sprint Championship, went home with a bag of class awards.

A standing ovation was given to Gore’s co-driver Raymond Farquharson, who sustained facial damage during Rally Jamaica. Executive secretary Marcia Dawes received the President’s trophy for her tireless service to the JMMC.

Between the main awards, the JMMC handed out Honorary Lifetime Memberships to past club members who have significantly contributed to the sport.
