Samoke is Flammable

DANCEHALL artiste Samoke recently released his debut album Flammable which he feels get him recognised as a serious contender in the industry.

The 15-track album — released in November 2012 — is produced by New York-based Mad Face Records.

“The album shows my versatility as an artiste,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

According to the 29-year-old, the set features predominantly One Drop reggae with a mixture of dancehall, jazz and rock.

He said it is gaining traction in the overseas market.

“My Wife, a track from the album featuring singer Unique, is at number 5 on New York’s Linkage Radio charts,” he said.

The album includes Fyha Sparks, Back Stabbers and Raise a Pay.

Samoke, whose real name is Michael Forrester, hails from Buff Bay in Portland. He lists his musical influences as Spragga Benz, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Lady Saw, and Tanya Stephens.

“My personal accomplishment from this album is to get some songs out there so that producers can take note that I’m a serious artiste. It’s not to make a bag of money,” Samoke told the Jamaica Observer.
