What are your most recurring memories of Kingston?

Driving around downtown visiting the Jewish Synagogue. I’ve been there at least six times on this trip.

What has been your most memorable meal in Kingston?

Jerk chicken and festival at Jojo’s during an amazing night of karaoke.

What was your most distinctive experience in Kingston?

Visiting the National Gallery to see the 2012 National Biennial, attending a reggae concert in the Jewish Synagogue, and walking around downtown photographing the old architecture.

What would be your advice to a first-time visitor to Kingston?

Make sure to visit Strawberry Hill for a sunset drink or dinner. The view is absolutely beautiful!

What would you do if you were mayor (of Kingston) for a day?

I would fix the potholes in the roads so that they do not return.

What is the title of the last book you read?

The Laws of Divine Compensation by Marianne Williamson.

What is your drink of choice?

Blackwell Rum, neat.

What was the last bit of music you listened to that you truly enjoyed?

Say It Ain’t So by Sezi, a Jamaican/Trinidadian singer who lives in Kingston.

What was your last bit of retail therapy?

The new iPad mini.

In Jamaica, I love Port Antonio, Robin’s Bay, Silver Sands, Strawberry Hill, The Blue Mountains & Treasure Beach. Outside of Jamaica, I love Trinidad, Carriacou, Haiti, India, Japan, Vietnam, and Hawaii.

You recently completed a hopeful photo journal on the tumultuous aftermath of the 2010 earthquake in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti called Tent Life Haiti. Your work has also been featured in The New York Times, Esquire, and Newsweek. Tell us a bit more about your most recent project in Jamaica.

I am currently creating a photography book on the History of the Sephardic Jews in The Caribbean. I have been photographing the oldest synagogues and cemeteries in the Western Hemisphere that are in different Caribbean islands, Jamaica being one of them. Jamaica had at least four synagogues and over 24 Jewish cemeteries at one point. It’s a fascinating part of Caribbean and Jewish history that most people are unaware of and I intend to highlight it for the world to see.

What is your philosophy?

Happiness is a choice, and being grateful is how you choose it. Anything is possible, once we believe it is. Stop thinking, start smiling. Create clear intentions, use fear as your compass, and live the life you dream of. Make a difference in the world by giving to others in some way. Do random acts of kindness daily. Last of all, everyone deserves to have their own personal life coach to assist them in creating their dream life. I am a life coach and love to guide people to make their dreams come true.
