FORMER Prime Minister of Jamaica PJ Patterson was on Wednesday presented with two books by poet Ann-Margaret Lim.

A Lime Jewel: An Anthology of Poetry and Short Stories in aid of Haiti was presented to Patterson in his capacity as representative to Caricom on Haiti.

Following the catastrophe in the French-speaking country on January 12, 2010, the London Meetup Group — a group of writers of Afro-Caribbean descent — pledged £10,000 to the Lambi Fund, which has been in operation in Haiti since the 1990s.

The proceeds from A Lime Jewel, therefore, have gone and will continue to go to the Lambi Fund to assist in Haiti’s rebuilding. Lim’s poem For the Mother and Child is her contribution to the anthology.

In making the presentation to the former PM on Wednesday, Lim informed him of the publisher’s desire that he be gifted with the book.

Lim also presented her first anthology The Festival of Wild Orchid to Patterson, who informed her that his first degree is in literature and that he looks forward to reading her book.

At the same time, he thanked the London Meetup Group, who are interchangeably referred to as the Black Londonners, for their tangible show of support for Haiti.
