The SOS Children’s Village in Montego Bay got a welcomed $120,000 boost to fund a tennis programme at the home following a tournament sponsored by Spoons Auto Supplies last Saturday.

Dave Brown, managing director of Spoons Auto Supplies, handed over a cheque to Simon Casserly, regional director of Tennis Jamaica and Gregory Wint, national director of SOS Children’s Villages Jamaica.

“I am delighted to make this contribution to support the development of the children of SOS in this great sport. I know this tennis programme is an avenue for your

growth, not just in tennis, but in other spheres in your life,” said Brown.

The tournament saw a number of children in the village competing for the prestigious King of the Court award and after a fine display Miguel Rose, who amassed over 27 points, won ahead of Mario Campbell.

Casserly, who has supported the tennis programme at the village since last September, encouraged the children to take advantage of this great opportunity.

“Tennis has made a positive difference in my life and I am sure it will make a positive difference in your lives as well,” he reiterated.

Meanwhile, a happy and appreciative Wint, in receiving the cheque on behalf of the children, said the success they are celebrating today, is as a result of collaborative efforts of persons of like minds all committed to the development of the children in the care of SOS.

“Mrs Michelle Rollins, Rose Hall Development, Simon Casserly of Tennis Jamaica and now Dave Brown of Spoons Auto Supplies have all made it possible for the children in SOS to hone their skill, in this fine sport which is transforming the lives of the children in a positive way, and I say a big thank you to all these partners,” said Wint.

“We are confident that out of this tennis programme at the village a national or international tennis champion will be born,” he added.
