MONTEGO BAY, St James – St James teams Wadadah FC and Tomorrow’s People will meet in next week’s mid-season final of the Jamaica Football Federation’s Captain’s Bakery and Grill Western Super League competition after topping their respective zones.

In Tuesday’s final set of games in the second round, Wadadah FC which needed only a point, beat Petersfield 2-1 at Petersfield to top Zone 1 with 23 points, while Tomorrow’s People edged Norwood Strikers 1-0 at Wespow Park to top Zone 2 with 21 points– just one more than Reno FC, who beat Bamboo United 2-1.

The final should have been played this weekend but was rescheduled for next week, as no representative of the sponsor was available to attend the game.

Wadadah FC had their long run without conceding a goal snapped at just over 40O minutes by the last team that scored against them, when Dave Drummond equalised for Petersfield in the 21st minute after Loxley Thomas had given the Montego Bay Club the lead after 16 minutes.

Damion Reid however scored in the 24th minute to restore Wadadah’s lead, as they cruised to their sixth straight win and seventh overall.

At Westpow Park, Tomorrow’s People missed a second half penalty kick but managed to hold off Norwood Strikers 1-0 to stay ahead of Reno.

Davell Cornwall scored in the 50th minute as Tomorrow’s People beat the promoted side for the second time this season, after a 5-0 mauling in the first round.

Reno stayed a point behind, beating Bamboo 2-1 to snap a two- games winless run.

Craig Foster scored in the 17th minute and Melvin Blair in the 37th gave Reno a 2-0 lead before Kevin Bowen pulled one back in the 50th minute.

Also on Tuesday, Harmony FC and Logwood United drew 1-1, while Catherine Hall and Village drew 2-2.

Jeff Pearce’s 44th minute goal, his fifth of the season earned a point for Harmony after Dockline Powell had given Logwood the lead in the 37th minute.

At the UDC field in Montego Bay, Odean Snow scored twice for Catherine Hall to come from behind to earn a point from Village United.

Kenroy Thompson gave Village the lead in the 41st minute but Snow, the former Granville United player, levelled the score in the 65th minute, then gave them the lead in the 82nd minute.

Oshane Powell then salvaged a point for Village, when he scored in the 90th minute.
