Warria Trumpet sounds off
Deejay Warria Trumpet says his moniker was inspired by an instrument that has sounded many a rallying cry since ancient days.
He wants his songs to have a similar effect.
“I want people all over the world to listen to the lyrics of the songs that I am writing and feel the impact, ,” said the Florida-based artiste.
Warria Trumpet recently signed with Multi Lynk Ent/Multi Nation Recordz.
Interestingly, his first releases for the label include the lover’s rock songs Seen You Before and She Likes It.
While he is mainly into message music, Warria Trumpet says the idea behind these ballads are to “get the ears of the people” at the same time showing his versatility.
The riveting Pain and Poverty, another of his latest songs, sees him in more familiar territory.
Born Kevon Dunbar, Warria Trumpet says he migrated to the United States while in secondary school in Kingston. He grew up in New York City where he attended Mt Vernon High School. It was there that he started ‘performing’ in the courtyard, later working the nightclub circuit.
He eventually moved to Orlando, Florida where he recorded songs like Take You There, Baby Girl, Life On The Line and Innocent for various producers. He also appeared as opening act on shows for Barrington Levy, Capleton, Everton Blender, Sanchez and Damian Marley.
Warria Trumpet plans to film videos for two of his songs in Jamaica in April.
