Lisbie 11th goal sees Orient to easy win
SHREWSBURY, England (CMC) — Former Reggae Boyz star Kevin Lisbie scored his second goal in as many outings and his 11th of the season to help fire Leyton Orient to a 2-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town here yesterday.
Playing in League One, the third tier of English professional football, the 34-year-old scored a 52nd-minute penalty to ensure full points after Frenchman Mathieu Baudry had put the visitors ahead in the 33rd minute at Greenhous Meadow Stadium.
Now unbeaten in four outings, Orient are mid-table on 54 points, but are just seven points adrift of a playoff spot with nine games left in the season.
The visitors started brightly and were rewarded when Baudry nodded home Dean Cox’s cross.
Lisbie then had a goal disallowed for off-side, but made amends seven minutes after the break when Romaine Vincelot was upended in the area by David McAllister, and he calmly slotted home from the spot.
Lisbie also scored in Orient’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth last week.
