HORACE Andy, who won a new generation of fans 15 years ago through his link with British band Massive Attack, has collaborated with German record label Echo Beach to record Broken Beats, a 15-track album showcasing rearranged versions of his most popular songs.

The 62-year-old Andy’s distinctive falsetto is heard on songs like Cuss Cuss, Skylarking and Money Money which are done to contemporary rhythms ranging from house and hip-hop to jazz and dubstep.

He worked with some of the label’s top producers including Rob Smith, Dubblestandard, Dub Spencer, Umberto Echo, Oliver Frost, Eva B, and Fenin.

Broken Beats is available digitally.

Echo Beach has been around for 15 years and have produced a number of acclaimed dub albums including King Size Dub and Sound of Dub.

Born Horace Hinds, Andy is a bona fide star of the 1970s roots revolution.

He began his career with producer Phil Pratt in the late 1960s but his stint with Clement ‘Coxson’ Dodd gave him his first taste of success with songs like Cuss Cuss and Skylarking.

Andy enjoyed a career resurgence in the late 1990s by recording and touring with Massive Attack, a cutting-edge band from Bristol, England.

In recent years, many of his songs from the 1970s have made compilation albums, mainly distributed by European companies.
