#Champs2025:Dockery’s DQ opens door in Class 1 200m

KINGSTON, Jamaica—The disqualification of Class 1 100m champion Sabrina Dockery of Lacovia High has thrown Saturday’s 200m final wide open at the 115th ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.

Dockery, who had led the qualifying of the 200m with 23.22 seconds on Thursday, was disqualified in the semi-finals on Friday, along with Wolmers’ Girls’ Abigail Wolfe and Immaculate Conception’s Shevi-Ann Shim, all for false starts.

Hydel High, who led the points standing after Thursday’s third day, is expected to benefit from the absence of Dockery, having two qualifiers for the final.

Jody Ann Daley of Hydel High led the qualifying with 23.53 seconds (0.8m/s), with Edwin Allen’s Jounee Armstrong next with 23.75 seconds (-0.5m/s) and Hydel’s Shemonique Hazel – 23.79 seconds (-0.5m/s).

Bellefield High’s Anecia Campbell- 24.20 seconds (0.8m/s) and the Holmwood Technical pair of 100m silver medallist Doneillia Lewis- 24.04 seconds (-0.5m/s) and 400m silver medallist Abrina Wright 24.35 seconds (0.8m/s), are also through.

Hydel High’s Sashana Johnson, who was second in the 400m, leads the Class 2 qualifying with 23.57 seconds (0.7m/s) ahead of 100m gold medallist Shanoya Douglas of Muschett High- 23.99 seconds (0.3m/s) with Breanna Brown of Excelsior High- 24.41 seconds (0.1m/s) next best.

Natrece East of Wolmers Girls, the 100m silver medalist, also advanced with 23.59 seconds (0.7m/s), as well as Shanika Lindsay of Alphansus Davis High, 24.44 seconds (0.3m/s).

The Class 3 final will see a clash between 100m champion Shannia Campbell of St Jago High, who ran 24.22 seconds (0.1m/s) and 400m champion Shameika McLean of Foga Road, 24.30 seconds (1.7m/s).

Port Antonio High’s Kevina Bourne led the qualifying with 24.08 seconds (0.9m/s) and will be joined by 100m bronze medalist Rihanna Scott of Ferncourt High, 24.24 seconds (1.7m/s) and Danelia Clarke of Edwin Allen, 24.41 seconds (0.1m/s).

Reneka Reid of Hydel High leads the Class 4 qualifying with 25.00 seconds (1.8m/s) just ahead of Adalia Simpson of Holmwood Technical, 25.14 seconds (1.3m/s) and Vere Technical’s Danae Bartley, 25.24 seconds (1.5m/s).

They will be joined by Anya Johnson of Immaculate Conception- 25.40 seconds (1.5m/s) and Alzeliha Allen of St Andrew High 25.52 seconds (1.8m/s).
