Clarendon businessman shot dead
OSBOURNE STORE, Clarendon — Popular Clarendon businessman Winston ‘Charlie’ Dawkins was shot and killed at his home Tuesday night.
Dawkins was 63-years-old and operated a wholesale, restaurant and entertainment centre at Osbourne Store in the parish.
Family members say that Dawkins had gone to check on his nephew who was taking an “unusually long time” to tend to chickens at the back of the premises. They said that Dawkins went to the coop only to find men holding his nephew held at gunpoint.
It is unclear what transpired but relatives said that they heard explosions after which Dawkins was found suffering from gunshot wounds.
