Cadets clean up and explore!
As the Sandals Foundation continues its Marine Awareness campaign throughout the month of April, Volunteers within the Montego Bay region once again engaged youngsters — this time cadets from the William Knibb and St James High Marine Units — in an interactive Marine Awareness initiative.
The initiative, which unfolded at the Aquasol Theme Park, explored the importance of Coral reef preservation and offered the young cadets a first hand look at the Doctor’s Cave reef.
As a part of the initiative the group of cadets and Sandals Foundation Volunteers also lent a hand to beach clean-up efforts along sections of the Old Hospital beach which was organized by the Rotaract Club of Montego Bay and the Montego Bay Marine Park.
Captain Poly (standing) of Miss Poly Watersports and young cadets from the
William Knibb and St James High Marine Units seem rather intrigued by
something beneath the water’s surface. The cadets were among a group of
18 treated to glass bottom boat tours of the Doctor’s Cave reef during a
Sandals Foundation-sponsored marine field trip in the Montego Bay region.
Also sharing in the moment is Captain Leighton Burnett (right) from the
Support and Service Battalion Jamaica Combined Cadet Force.
