Five arrested for electricity theft in Manchester
Manchester, Jamaica – Five people were arrested for electricity theft in Manchester last week, bringing April’s total of such arrests in the parish to 18.
The five arrested, including a woman, were caught at Ward Avenue and Grove Road in Mandeville and the Georges Valley community, the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) reported.
Of the 18 arrested in April, seven have pleaded guilty and will be sentenced in the Mandeville and Christiana Resident Magistrate’s Courts.
The JPS says it is intensifying its campaign against theft and has been conducting several operations in both residences and businesses in the parish.
Eighty-seven people have been arrested island wide for illegal abstraction of electricity since the start of the year.
