STETHS tour
THE talent ‘tun up till it buck’ at St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) when teenAGE Observer Expression Tours visited them last week Tuesday. STETHS offered up loads of original talents and, from beginning to end it was a marvellous experience.
First up were Odane Thompson and Krystal Spencer with their poem entitled One Chance. It started off a bit slowly, but really built up towards the end all, in all it got a fairly good reception from the crowd.
Following them was Javani Parker singing an original song entitled Memories. He had a soothing voice and the crowd really seemed to enjoy his performance, as they gave him a loud round of applause at the end.
Then, Jhavid Powell, another singer with an original song Want You To Love Me, was up on stage. He had a lovely singing voice and gave an enjoyable performance.
Our first break in the show came in the form of a Flow trivia question; Kedeidra Wallace took the first trivia prize for the day.
Heading right back into the show DST took the stage with their dub poem, Crime. They were prepared, properly attired, well-projected and lively, and delivered a great performance.
After them came another trivia question, this one about the cool fruit flavours. Aveia Findley got the prize for this one.
Sweet Harmony was up next with their song Peace. The song was well written, and were the voices complemented each other; a great song, a good message, the crowd and the judges loved them.
Another trivia question followed; this one answered by Velaine Barrett.
Theatre Arts group was up next to entertain the crowd with their skit entitled Facebook. It was highly entertaining, dramatic and funny.
Following them was Delion Bowes with his dub poem HIV. He was really into his performance, gave us a short and spicy poem, and left us wanting just a little more.
Afterwards, Demar Shanga wowed us with his catchy lyrics that had the audience swaying as he performed.
The students’ Cool Fruit drink-off was on after Shanga exited the stage.
Ashley Watson aka Turbo was true to her moniker. When the hostess gave the signal she basically finished her two boxes of Cool Fruit before anyone else had time to even open theirs.
The teachers’ drink-off followed, and it seems as if the women of STETHS have a knack for winning. Teacher Maud Patterson came out victorious in this competition.
Jumping back into the show, we started up with Shellaz Dance Group. These girls had loads of potential. They gave us a good performance.
Trackers Dance Group followed, they can work on being better co-ordinated, but gave an enjoyable performance.
Jamali Palmer was next, giving us his best with his song Inspiration.
Matthiew Cole followed with his poem entitled Time. It was well written and original.
After Matthiew was Onukie Wright. This young man was outfitted, prepped and ready to go and he gave us an outstanding performance.
Next were Odaine Williams and Shamar Moodie with their song Education Is Key, most appropriate song that seemed to be on course with the general theme for the day.
Adding to the long list of singers was Steven Cowell with his song Summer Time.
After all the performers had contributed their part to the show, it was now time for the guest artiste’s performance. This week we had the charming, hype and energetic Cherine singing, dancing and motivating the students, while the judges decided the winners.
At the end of her spectacular performance the winners were announced. In third place was Trackers Dance Group and in second it was DST. Holding down first place and the chance to represent their school at the Expression Tours Finals was Sweet Harmony.
