Drugs found in wheelchair, man arrested
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Investigators from the Transnational Crimes and Narcotics Division (TCND) Tuesday (May 7) found 10 packages containing 14.25 pounds of ganja and four packages containing 2.25 pounds of cocaine in a passenger’s wheelchair at the Sangster International Airport (SIA) in Montego Bay.
Miguel Robinson, who was travelling in the wheelchair, was arrested in connection with the seizure.
According to the police Robinson was about to board a Caribbean Airlines flight to the Bahamas, when he was interviewed by TCND investigators. His wheelchair was searched by members of the Caribbean Search Centre and the drugs found in the battery cases of the wheelchair.
The marijuana seized is valued at $43,000 and the cocaine $1.million.
Investigations continue.
