NBA iLikes – May 13
5. When you think of plays featuring reigning league MVP LeBron James, he is always on the dominant end. However, the diminutive Nate Robinson of the Chicago Bulls had other ideas on Friday as he came from the blindside to block the attempted lay-up of the league’s most prized talent.
4. Oftentimes overshadowed by his backcourt counterpart Steph Curry (and understandably so), shooting guard Klay Thompson announced himself to the play-offs which a 34-point game against the San Antonio Spurs. Thompson proved that he is just as good a shooter as any, draining eight of nine three-point attempts on the night.
3. GINOBLI! If it were not for a tough week, he could easily have claimed the top spot in our iLikes. With 3.4 seconds left on the clock and his team trailing by a point in double over-time, Manu Ginobli of the San Antonio Spurs received the inbound pass at the opposite end of the court before rising to drain the game-winner over an on-rushing Golden State Warrior player.
2. Now every so often, we will be watching an NBA game and see what is referred to as a ‘circus shot’, which is when a player makes an unorthodox basket. Tony Parker captured this perfectly against the Golden State Warriors last Friday. After dribbling to create space on the perimeter, Parker drove past his marker while taking the contact, causing him to throw up a side-angled prayer, while falling to the ground, which kissed the top of the glass and fell through the hoop.
1. Now that being said, Reggie Jackson of the Oklahoma City Thunder went even further and stole the top spot of this week’s iLikes with a ‘circus play’. Leading a fast break attack against the Memphis Grizzlies, Jackson sprinted the length of the court, splitting the double team of the hustling Grizzlies before going behind-the-back to evade Mike Conley, then jumping over a diving Tony Allen (which put him off balance) to make what would turn out to be an amazing lay-up.
