Senior Brand Manager, Cari-Med

How did you land this job?

A friend saw the ad in the newspaper and called me saying, “This job describes you…it has your name written all over it.” I applied and the rest is history.

How long have you been in this job?

An amazing 11 years. I started off as a product manager and was later promoted to senior brand manager.

What’s great about your job?

It’s marketing so it allows me to wear many hats and keeps me on the move. It’s about people so it is dynamic and draws upon your creativity! It’s rewarding and you can measure the results in a tangible way, especially when you know you are working with products that can positively impact people’s lives …tangible as you get the testimonials of how persons have included Ensure in their daily nutritional programme and see the positive results. There’s nothing more rewarding when wearing the Ensure-branded shirt than people coming up to you to tell you how it has helped them, or their family member or a friend. I must also mention that being a part of the Cari-Med family, known for its strong family culture and great team spirit, makes my job great. Cari-Med is like one big melting pot where personalities and ideas unite around a common goal: one great good. The climate is one which provides good guidance and great support. In my capacity, I am allowed and encouraged to think outside of the box and when you have a CEO (Mr Glen Christian) who is a visionary, the sky is really the limit. The work is demanding but rewarding!

Tell us something we might not know about your brands.

The diversity and the versatility of the Ensure product! It is designed to meet the nutritional needs of a number of individuals — we have Ensure to fit everyone – male, female, young, and the mature. The “person on the go” who doesn’t have the time to eat properly can have Ensure Regular; the athlete or the gym enthusiast – Ensure Muscle with extra protein; people with health issues can benefit from Ensure Plus and Ensure Complete. It’s a versatile drink that can be had straight from the bottle or as a delicious smoothie with local fruits eg banana, papaya or mango, or pumpkin or carrots. Add oats or peanut butter for a twist.

Why are Cari-Med products so attractive to consumers?

As a leading distributor Cari-Med represents some of the top consumer and pharmaceutical brands with high quality products. Our consumer brands spread across the categories that the consumer is interested in – foods, home care, health & beauty, and pet care.

Where can consumers find out more about your brands?

Specific to the Ensure Nutritionals, check www.Ensure.com; for the wider product portfolios check our website www.carimed.com; call us at 927-7098-9 or visit us at 20 Lady Musgrave Road, Kingston 5.
