GATORADE continues to lend support to sports as they will partner with England striker Daniel Sturridge and his family in presenting the first edition of the ‘Express Yuh Talent To Di World’ fun day on Saturday at Waterford, Portmore.
Gatorade’s brand manager, Kimberley Mullings, told the Jamaica Observer that Pepsi Cola Jamaica will be on hand as usual for an event where the cash donation will go towards the Faith Basic School.
“Pepsi Co Jamaica, through its brand Gatorade, will be providing Gatorade and water for all of the participating players during the Daniel Sturridge Family Fun Day,” said Mullings.
“Hydration is critical to athletic performance and Gatorade always want the best for our athletes, which is why Gatorade continuously supports athletic events. Pepsi Co Jamaica is proud to partner with Daniel Sturridge on this venture and applauds him for supporting Jamaica’s youth and their athletic and emotional development through this family fun day,” she added.
Sturridge, the 23-year-old Liverpool and England striker, although injured, will lend support to the event put on by his cousin Kenneth ‘Polky’ Anderson.
“Daniel has big plans for more, he has always been saying he wants to contribute to Jamaica,” said Anderson.
“Is from last year me and him a talk about it. He always said he won’t let us down and the youths of the community,” Anderson pointed out.
The whole day event which is slated to start at 10:00 am at the playfield in Waterford Phase Two, will see football, netball and basketball for different age groups.
There will be cash prizes and giveaways along with an entertainment package, involving dancing and singing contests. Beenie Man and Alicia will be on hand, while music will be provided by Firelinks, Chris Diamond, Flava Unit and Ice Box.
The event is to give back to a teacher who contributed all her life to teaching the youngsters in the community from her home, and now she has branched out into the Faith Basic School.
“Miss Carol teach the children from her verandah and most of the youths pass through her verandah and that gave me the idea to do this for her,” said Anderson.
There will also be treats for the children with bounce-a-bout, face painting and ice cream.
