Countdown to 4th of July celebrations
“Success depends upon previous preparation, and without such preparation there is sure to be failure.”
– Confucius.
Ahead of today’s celebration of the 237th anniversary of the Independence of the United States, youngsters from the Institute of Recognized Qualification (IRQ) were given the opportunity of a lifetime as they ‘rubbed blades’ with Marriott New York’s executive pastry chef, Steve Evetts, executive sous-chef Armando Monterroso, and the Marriott Marquis and Marina, San Diego’s James Ben Cottrell. They are the chefs who will fête a 600-guest banquet hosted by US Ambassador to Jamaica Pamela Bridgewater.
The kitchens at the University of Technology’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management were abuzz as the food preparation for the big event got underway. The aroma from the fresh herbs and spices were enough to make mouths water and were telltale signs that this evening’s event is sure to be a palate pleaser. Thursday Life takes you behind the scenes of the 4th of July celebrations food preparation 2013.
