Branded – Tricia Romeo

Brand Manager — General Mills, Wisynco Group Ltd

How did you land this job?

I worked in a multinational fast-moving commodity goods industry for three years prior to Wisynco in the capacity of a sales executive, and during those three years I knew that my progression would be in marketing. When the opportunity to work for Wisynco as General Mills brand manager came up I jumped at it as I strongly believed it would be a great chance to work with true visionaries, who are very business savvy and have a strong track record at creating well-rounded and great marketing experts. I applied for the position and proved to be the best candidate for the job.

How long have you had this job?

I have been in this position since March 28, 2011.

What’s great about your job?

Marketing has become my passion, and working for an organisation such as General Mills has enabled growth and development. Being in charge of such a wide cross section of products has developed my business acumen tremendously, from marketing cake mixes to ice creams, to granola bars, to yogurts. I have cultivated a rich abundance of knowledge that is absolutely profound.

Given the very competitive nature of the Jamaican marketplace, you are constantly forced to be creative, stay relevant and be uppermost in the mind of the consumers at all times. This is what I love!!! I enjoy the diversity and the creativity that each and every day brings to achieve the company’s targets and objectives. Each day offers a new experience — from creating trade promotions, to preparing for the Jamaica Observer Food Awards, to executing at the National Stadium in various sporting events. The strong level of teamwork and team spirit existing among the employees is extraordinary, which also makes working here even greater.

In addition, this job affords me the opportunity to be charitable, which is something that I am very passionate about. This is done through Yoplait’s Save Lids to Save Lives campaign in October where I plan and coordinate activities to help raise funds and awareness for breast cancer.

Tell us something we might not know about General Mills.

A lot of people are not familiar with the name General Mills as it’s not our strategy to market the company’s name but rather the individual brands. It is one of the world’s largest food companies producing popular brands such as Häagen Dazs, Nature Valley, Yoplait, Betty Crocker, Pillsbury and Green Giant.

Why are General Mills products so attractive to customers?

1. General Mills products are very attractive to consumers because they play a major role in making their lives healthier, easier and richer.

2. We continually set targets for bettering the nutritional profile of our foods, for example the innovation of Yoplait Greek 100 with only 100 calories.

3. We listen to our consumers’ demands and constantly make changes to provide products that meet these needs.

Where can customers find out more about your brand?

Consumers can visit our website at https://www.generalmills.com or https://www.wisynco.com, visit our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Wisynco, or contact Wisynco’s office at 1-876-665-9150.Win!
