DEFENDING cham-pions Harbour View and arch rival Boys’ Town are still searching for their first win of the season after battling to a 1-1 draw in their Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) match

In a late kick-off at Drewsland, Cavalier stunned the home team Waterhouse 1-0 to follow up a similar result against Portmore United.

Asrick Samuels gave Boys’ Town the lead, with a fierce low drive from just inside the box, in the 44th minute after being teed up by Andre Dawson.

But the visiting Harbour View earned a share of the points when substitute Donovan Edwards swivelled and fired home from close range in the 79th minute.

Both teams are coming off opening day defeats, have inched to one point each from two games, and will have to wait another day to secure their first win.

Of the two teams, Boys’ Town must be the more disappointed, having looked comfortable after taking the lead, but head coach Andrew Price was encouraged.

Said Price: “We really wanted to come off the mark today with a victory. I think we played well enough to have won the game, but a defensive lapse in the last 10 minutes of the game cost us all three points.

“But I am encouraged by some of the signs that I saw. We started off a little bit shaky, but as the game wore on we started to play better, and if we had taken some of those chances deep in the second half we would have gotten a better result out of the game,” he added.

It’s a different tune for the visiting ‘Stars of the East’ team, as head coach Harold Thomas was more thankful for the point.

“It was a difficult game for us as we were always second to every ball. Slow, lethargic and I found out what caused, it but is something we couldn’t explain. It was not our normal style of play, and there are some issues today,” said Thomas.

“We are not satisfied, but thankful. Coming from one nil down and getting the equaliser is

always good, but we are not satisfied,”

Thomas emphasised.

These two clubs have a long history and Boys’ Town took the opportunity to recognise and honour a past Harbour View player, and present general manager of the club, Clyde Jureidini, who Boys’ Town’s club executive Carl Brown said did a lot to help the club.

Jureidini was given a plaque, as was former Santos player Clive ‘Busy’ Campbell, and the

Taxi Gang were also recognised for their continued assistance with providing football gear for the club.
