Visiting Cavalier FC left Drewsland with full points after defeating Waterhouse 1-0 with a late goal in their first round Red Stripe National Premier League encounter on Sunday.

Girvan Brown ran on to a ball that was bubbling around in Waterhouse area and lashed it past goalkeeper Richard McCallum in time added to give Cavalier two wins from as many matches and sunk Waterhouse to their first defeat from two games.

“A victory on the road is a big plus for us,” beamed coach David Lalor. “We stuck to our game plan and the task at hand and came up with a goal. Two victories from two matches at the start of the season is a good feeling for us,” he added.

Junior Francis, the Waterhouse head coach, explained that there was no need to be alarmed for though losing “we had possession for most of the game” but fell away a bit in extra time. “Cavalier got the opportunity to cross a ball and scored as we lacked composure in defence in those dying minutes. Apart from that hiccup, I thought we played well and should have scored. We got two easy chances to score where ‘Tuffy’ (Jermaine Anderson) just had to head the ball across the line from close up, but headed wide,” Francis said.
