Solaris instals largest solar PV energy system in St Kitts
St Kitts & Nevis — SOLARIS Global Energy Limited yesterday celebrated its installation of the largest Photovoltaic (PV) energy system in St Kitts & Nevis. The 72 kW system installed for the Trading and Development Company Limited (TDC) will power its largest retail outlet, the Home & Building Depot in Basseterre.
“We have been selling Solaris Energy water heaters since 2012 and are very pleased with the products and the level of professional advice and service offered by the company. We look forward to continuing our relationship as we add Solaris PV systems to our inventory for sale,” said Iston Williams, senior sales manager.
PV systems use the power of the sun to generate electricity to run houses, offices or manufacturing facilities. The 72kW system installed by Solaris Energy includes 274 solar panels and produces for TDC approximately 370 kWHs per day totalling11,100 kWHs per month. According to TDC, this equates to a 50 per cent savings off previous electricity costs. Additionally, the installation from the PV solar panels will allow TDC to further reduce its costs associated with cooling the building.
“The installation of this large-scale PV system with TDC is exciting for us, especially since it provides a great example of the everyday application of renewable energy,” said Edward Toppin, sales manager of Solaris Global Energy.
“We expect this to be the beginning of great things to come with TDC in St Kitts as we grow our businesses while greening the region,” he added.
Solaris Global Energy is the largest installer of renewable energy products in the Caribbean and has distributors throughout the Caribbean and the US.
