Commissioner Ellington condemns killing of woman police
KINSGTON, Jamaica — Police Commissioner Owen Ellington has instructed St Catherine South Police Division investigators to move apace in capturing the remaining criminals who are responsible for Friday night’s murder of woman Constable Arianna Henry.
In a news release Saturday, Ellington said instances such as the gun attack which resulted in Henry’s death will not drive fear into police officers but will serve to strengthen their resolve in going after the criminals.
Henry, who was 23 years old, was shot in the abdomen by gunmen while standing along the roadway with another police officer in Marine Park, St Catherine last night. One suspect is now in hospital under police guard. The other police officer was not injured.
A force chaplin has since been assigned to counsel family members of the slain cop.
Ellington also made an appeal to every law-abiding citizen, particularly those who have information on criminals, to share what they know with the police so that these perpetrators can be brought to justice.
