WITH the ISSA/LIME Ben Francis Knockout trophy safely tucked away at St Elizabeth Technical High (STETHS) in Santa Cruz, the attention returns to the daCosta cup as the Inter-zone kicks off today with one game, to be followed by another 15 tomorrow.

On Saturday, STETHS scored twice in the second half to end Manchester High’s unbeaten season, beating them 2-0 in the Ben Francis KO finals at the STETHS Sports Complex, for their fourth straight hold, a record.

Khesanio Hall scored the opening goal in the 50th minute, scoring in all 12 games for STETHS so far this season, while Donjay Smith scored a stunner in the 74th minute in what looked to be an easier win than was expected.

Manchester High had conceded just one goal this season coming into the game, going 12 consecutive games until they conceded two in the space of 24 minutes to extend their drought of not winning a major football title.

Five minutes into the second half Rohan Lindsay dribbled to the left corner flag then found the unmarked Hall with a perfect cross that the big striker headed powerfully past goalkeeper Nicholas King as the partisan crowd erupted.

STETHS came close to adding a second goal in the 63rd minute, but his pile driver from about 30 yards was tipped for a corner.

Another foray down the wing in the 74th minute, this time by Hall, who picked out Smith on the other wing and he obliged by blasting the ball back past King into the far corner.

Today, Frome Technical, one of the best third place teams, will face Vere Technical in one game at the Frome Sports Grounds, set to start at 3:00 pm while the other games will be played tomorrow.

Vere Technical are returning to the Inter-zone for the first time in 12 years.
