LAST Sunday’s outing at the Palisadoes International Raceway in Kingston was the penultimate round of the Jamaica Karting Association’s (JKA) championship season and the perfect chance to gain much-needed points for several competitors.

The 50cc continues to be a see-saw battle between Zander Williams and Ryan Chisolm, each of whom took a race final win each. However the field has grown tremendously, now boasting an additional five competitors for a total of eight. The 80cc saw class regulars Mark Moodie and Thomas Gore absent, leaving Jerome Stanley to fight for race honours with Lewis McKinson. Stanley took the first round win, while McKinson won round two’s final.

Minimax was dominated by Justin Sirgany. The extent of his speed and race lead meant he was able to catch and pass a Rotax Junior driver in the closing moments of the first final. The action was far from boring behind him, as MarcAnthony Eaton and Senna Summerbell tussled hard all day to best each other for the final podium spots. The same couldn’t be said for the Rotax Junior, as Thomas Issa led from lap one to easily take both his class finals. Matthew Williams in Rotax Seniors and Garth Genus in Rotax Masters rounded out the rest of the victors.
