Results of Racing Commission disciplinary hearings
The Stewards announced the following disciplinary actions arising from inquiries held at the offices of the Jamaica Racing Commission on Tuesday, November 19, 2013.
Jockey Jemar Jackson who rode Bluemountain Man in the 10th race on Saturday, October 12, was suspended for three race days for intimidation and interference caused to Diamond Princess, Sir Frederick and Princess Sassy leaving the 800-metre point. The suspension will take effect on Saturday, November 30.
Jockey Richard Mitchell who rode Diamond Princess in the 10th race on Saturday, October 12, 2013 had his explanation accepted for intimidation and interference caused to Princess Sassy leaving the 800-metre point.
Jockey Leo Miller who rode Rio Cobre in the 3rdrace on Saturday, October 19, 2013 was fined $8,000.00 for the interference caused to Blast Them Away approaching the 1000-metre point.
Jockey Dick Cardenas, who rode Jarreau in the 5th race on Saturday, October 12, was fined $8,000.00 for the intimidation and interference caused to Golden Opportunity in the vicinity of the 500 metre point; and, All Correct in the 9th race on Monday, October 21, 2013 was fined $8,000.00 for intimidation and interference caused to Big Bad Links in the final 100 metres.
Jockey Omar Walker who rode Scoop Jordyne in the 2nd race on Monday, October 21, 2013 was fined $6,000.00 for intimidation and interference caused to Miracle Star in the final 100-metres.
Jockey Ruja Lahoe who rode Simply Outstanding in the 8th race on Saturday, October 26 was charged with failing to ride the horse on its merits. Lahoe gave evidence that Simply Outstanding felt uneven and unsound for sections of the race resulting in him not urging it until in the final 300 metres. As a result, he was fined $10,000.00 for not reporting these problems to the Stewards on the race day, which would have facilitated a detailed veterinary examination of the horse.
Jockey Trevor Simpson who rode Herbious Corpus in the 3rd race on Sunday, October 26,2013, was cautioned for intimidation and interference caused to Lesterae and Nooklin Bridge leaving the 800 metre line.
Jockey Obrien White who rode Awesome Code in the 5th race on Saturday, October 26, was cautioned for intimation and interference caused to Water Wave, Circular Moment and Western Rose at the start of the race.
