Coopers Pen off with bang in Trelawny KO
COOPERS PEN, Trelawny — Christopher Noble scored four times as Coopers Pen booked a place in the first round of the Trelawny Football Association Patrick Atkinson Knockout beating Friendship 4-0 in their play-off round game at Coopers Pen in Saturday’s opening day.
Coopers Pen and Rio Bueno booked their spots in the first round as the third game between Fire FC and Invaders, set for Wakefield, was not played as the venue was not prepared. The TFA will make a decision whether the game will be played or if it will be awarded to Fire FC.
Coopers Pen will face the winner of the Fire FC vs Invaders game, while Rio Bueno will take on Duanvale on Wednesday.
On Saturday, Noble gave Coopers Pen a 1-0 half-time lead after scoring in the 32nd minute; then doubled the lead in the 55th minute before completing his hat-trick in the 70th minute.
Noble then added the fourth goal in the 85th.
At Rio Bueno, the home team came from a goal down to eliminate Kinloss FC 4-2, while playing the last 18 minutes of the game with just 10 players after Steve Ford was sent off in the 72nd minute.
Ford had earlier given Rio Bueno the equaliser in the 16th minute after Dashawn Reid had scored for Kinloss in the ninth minute.
Maurice McBean then scored a double in the 26th and 39th minutes to give Rio Bueno a 3-1 lead at half- time.
Ralston Knight then made it 4-1 in the 49th minute before Sheldon Barrett pulled one back for Kinloss in the 55th minute.
